President’s Update – April 2020

To All NGJA Members,
Due to the COVID-19 virus, many of you have been asking some a lot of really good questions. I will share with you the best information I have at this time. Please keep in mind, this information is very fluid and subject to change.

  1. The remaining 2019 – 2020 judging season –
    a. All USA Gymnastics events are cancelled through May.
    b. Olympic Trials is cancelled for 2020 since the Olympic Games have been postponed.
    c. USA Championships – USA Gymnastics is investigating moving this event to August. This will be dependent on many factors including securing a site and providing adequate training time for the athletes. I’ll keep you informed when I hear more.
  2. Olympics Postponed – everyone is aware the 2020 Olympics have been postponed. The prevailing thought at this time is…. It is believed that the COP will be extended one year through the 2021 Olympic Games. The new COP would be introduced in late 2021 and be in effect for 3 years instead of 4. This is not official yet, I will keep everyone informed as I hear more.
  3. NGJA Elections – Every 4 years the NGJA holds elections for its National and Regional officers. 2020 is an election year. In the coming days, I will be sending out election information to help everyone understand the process.. Please watch for these emails coming soon.
  4. NGJA Website Update – The NGJA website is being updated with improved technology and a new look. The site should be ready in the next 30-45 days. I want to thank Gerrit DeJonge and Dean Schott for all their work on this project.

Obviously, this has been a very unusual year!!! I hope you, your families and loved ones are all happy and healthy!
Mike Juszczyk
