"Technical requirement for Russian giant swing, page 130, Element Group IV #15 –
The Russian giant swing must be executed in rearway hang during the giant
swing in order to be recognized as C value.
If it is executed only with momentary
handstand inlocation and/or piked body position it will be recognized as a
normal el grip giant swing, with same number (box) and difficulty value as the
normal el grip giant swing. To be recognized, both of them must fill up 360°, from
handstand to handstand."

The following video is an example of a correctly done Russian Giant performed by Jim Curzi (MSU) at the 1964 NCAA's

Russian giant Russian Giant (Jim Curzi 1964 NCAAs)

The videos below are not Russian Giants, They are typical elgrip and invert constructions as previously done.

Make sure you check out Video6 below. This video will show you the differences in letter values that are now in force with the new interpretations and explanations of the Russian giant, the elgrip and the inverted giant.

The information below has been in place since January and continues in force.

hb-elgrip6.wmv Example #6
Jam to handstand (C), swing down in elgrip, swing up to handstand to invert postion (no value, part of the previous skill), "From invert position", swing down in elgrip, swing up to "invert position" (C invert), Swing down in elgrip, swing up to handstand (B elgrip giant), Hop pirouette (B - simple grip change). (After the June Qualifier, the Invert would be evaluated as a B in the same box as the El Grip Giant - therefore the second one is seen as a repeated element and actually would not receive any value because of that. - Therefore the letters given would be
(after the USAG June Qualifier)
Jam to HS = C
swing down and up to Invert position - no letter
swing down in el grip and up in Invert = B for elgrip giant
swing down in elgrip and up to HS = repeated element for a second el grip giant (no value)
Hop Pirouette = B
