2004-2005 NGJA/USAG Special Update (#6a)

June 30, 2005

Based upon information Ron Galimore & Ron Brant received from the FIG Men’s Technical Committee at the European Championships, the following information will be in effect for USA Championships.

Floor Exercise:

·        Back layout quadruple twist (4/1 twists) = Super E.

Pommel Horse: (The following skills have already been receiving connection bonus, however, this is just to reaffirm this connection bonus because of questions received from the US Qualifier meet).

1.     SSR270 to side support on the end, ½ circle to a Wu does connect and will receive a D+E.

2.     SSR270 to side support on the end, ½ circle with a ¼ turn to a Russian 1080 also connects and will receive D+D

3.     Cross support 1/1 spindle within 1 circle followed by a cross support 1/1 spindle within 2 circles will connect (E+D).

4.     Wu to a Sivado will connect with 2 or 3 hand placements in cross support on the end of the horse after the Wu (value E+D).

Still Rings:

·        A Planche will connect to the following: Nakayama, Azarian to cross, Azarian to Maltese, Pineda, or Bhavsar.

Vault: No changes

Parallel Bars:

1.     A press to handstand held 2 seconds, move to an English handstand on one bar and again hold the handstand for 2 seconds before completing a Healy to support will receive B credit for the press and an E value for the Healy from one bar. In this case, the 2 second hold after the press is not counted as an A value handstand because it is a required part of the press. Please note that the 2 second handstand is required for the press, however, a swing to handstand or any other A value handstand before the English handstand will cause the Healy from one bar will be considered the same skill as from 2 bars and will only receive D credit.

2.     A peach 1/1 turn will receive Super E credit if it is performed using a diamidov technique or a peach ¼ turn to one bar catching in double undergrip immediate ¾ pirouette out. Both variations must show continuous movement on the way up.

Horizontal Bar:

1.     Stalder Quast = C value.

2.     Stalder Rybalko to mixed grip = E value.

3.     Stalder Rybalko to double elgrip = SE value.

4.     Inside Stalder Rybalko to mixed grip = SE value

5.     Inside Stalder Rybalko to double elgrip = SE value

Note: In each case, the Rybalko must show definite visible separation between the hands and the bar. If the gymnast does not show flight, he will receive one value lower than noted above. This will be strictly enforced

6.     From an elgrip, full ono connected to an immediate 1/1 turn to double elgrip = D+C.

7.     A Quast with an extra 1/1 turn to double overgrip (Hop 2/1 turn) = D value

8.     A Rybalko with an extra 1/1 turn to a one arm elgrip (5/2 twists) will receive an E value.
