F.I.G. Men's Technical Committee Update
The following interpretations were decided upon by the FIG Men's Technical Committee at their meeting in Costanta, Romania, May 15 -19, 2001. They are published in the FIG Bulletin, number 184, August 2001.
1. Article 24: B jury deduction:
If the spotter touches the gymnast, the deduction is the same as touching the floor or apparatus, 0.1 or 0.2
2. New Skill Evaluations:
Floor Exercise
- 1 1/2 salto forward tucked with full twist = D
Pommel Horse
- Stockli A, continued with reverse Stockli without extra hand placement to handstand dismount = D
Parallel Bars
- Glide stoop to one bar (legs together), with hop and 3/4 turn or greater = D in Element Group IV.
- Back uprise to handstand, followed by Brandstrom, is considered as two elements - B and C, II-22, and I-38
- Full twist in handstand, Brandstrom style, = C, I-63, any kind of full twist has same value of C.
High Bar
- Endo straddle with 2/1 turns to El Grip = D, because more than one turn does not elevate the difficulty.
- German Giant turn to handstand = C
- German Giant hop to handstand = C
- From handstand, 1/1 turn to el-grip = C, without turn = B
3. Pommel Horse Connection:
The MTC kept the decision to connect elements at the earliest possibility, but when the possibility includes a full circle (which is the equivalent of two hand placements) even with some turning of the body during the circle, there is no possiblity of connection bonus.
